History
Samsung was founded as a grocery trading store on March 1, 1938, by Lee Byung-Chull with only 30,000 won (about US$27) and 40 employees,. He started his business in Taegu, Korea, trading noodles and other goods produced in and around the city and exporting them to China and its provinces.

In the 1960s, Samsung entered the electronics industry with the formation of several electronics-focused divisions.

In 1980, Samsung entered the telecommunications hardware industry with the purchase of Hanguk Jeonja Tongsin. Initially building telephone switchboards, Samsung expanded into telephone and fax systems, which eventually shifted to mobile phone manufacturing.
In the 1990s Samsung continued its expansion into the global electronics markets.
